· Neuroanatomy lecture from Professor Gordon Findlater in the historic Old Medical School Padua-style Anatomy Lecture Theatre · Spinal deformity instrumentation and implants talk from Iain McKinnon (K2M) with demo kits · Wet teaching in the anatomy lab with mounted television cameras above the dissections

· A lecture on the evolution of spinal deformity surgical techniques from Mr. Thanos Tsirikos, Clinical Lead of the Scottish National Spine Deformity Service · Teaching from our internationally renowned keynote speaker – Dr. Francesco Sala, Associate Professor of Neurosurgery at the University of Verona. Dr Sala’s main fields of interest are Paediatric Neurosurgery and Intraoperative Neurophysiology. Topics to be confirmed. · Presentations on monitoring and mapping of the cranial nerves and locating the cord midline from Dr. Alan Forster, Consultant Clinical Neurophysiologist, Aberdeen · A guide to neurosurgical electrodes for IOM and for invasive long term monitoring of epilepsy from Alastair Pittman at Severn Healthcare · A talk on anaesthesia for neurophysiology cases, working together from Dr. Phil Neal, Consultant Anaesthetist, Edinburgh · Instructional presentations on mapping and monitoring insular gliomas and AVM cases from Michael Pridgeon (Walton Centre) and Michael Owen (Bespoke Healthcare), expert Clinical Physiologists in the field · Di Boothman (NM UK & Taunton) will be discussing EMG monitoring for tethered cord and lumbar surgery · A look at IOM changes with osteotomies from the Royal Liverpool University Hospital · Dr. Aisyah Yaacob, Consultant Clinical Neurophysiologist will present an audit on brainstem neurophysiological monitoring in microvascular decompression of hemifacial spasm performed in Glasgow · Mr. Pasquale Gallo, Consultant Neurosurgeon, will discuss the value of intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring in tethered cord surgery here in Edinburgh · Dr. Jay Shetty, Consultant Neurologist and Mr. Drahus Sokol, Consultant Neurosurgeon, will give an account of Edinburgh’s experience of using invasive & IOM in epilepsy surgery with example cases · Mr. Jothy Kandasamy, Consultant Neurosurgeon, will share an interesting spinal tumour case study · Informal group discussions on: recruitment and retention of experienced IOM Staff, internal/external training and qualifications in IOM and personal indemnity insurance · Plenty of opportunity to spend time at the exhibit tables from our sponsors · A personal talk from Scoliosis Association (UK) representative and father of scoliosis patient, Pierre Bernard about what safe surgery means to patients and families · An opportunity to wander around the new History of Surgery Museum · Evening networking reception (pub!)
